Free hosting can save you a lot of money, as long as you find a reputable host. You must also always remember to take regular backups of your site and database. Free hosts can generally remove a site without warning as they will have this included in their TOS (Terms Of Service) agreement that you would have agreed to during the signup process, so always ensure you have a backup as it is unlikely that you will get your account back never mind your developed site.

You need to think of how much disk space your site will need. Just as importantly you need to think long term. In the future, if your site grows, how much bandwidth is it going to consume on a month-to-month basis? Of course this will depend on the nature of your site. If you have a site which is generally static, or something like a blog or a forum, then you can probably get away with using a trustworthyfree hosting service. If you have a video site that uses a lot of data and bandwidth then you are going to need a paid hosting service.

The general disadvantages of free hosting is the lack of disk space and bandwidth. Another major disadvantage is that most free hosts will force banners onto your newly developed site. You have spent a lot of time developing your site and the last thing that you want to happen is for an inappropriate advertisement to appear and ruin the design that you have spent weeks to perfect!
